Make a QR code you can test: links, Wi-Fi, and contacts
Encode short text, an HTTP(S) URL, Wi-Fi details, or contact information as a QR code and download PNG or SVG. Contact mode can also export a VCF file. Decide what a scan should do before choosing a mode, and avoid putting sensitive information in a code that will be posted publicly.
Choose the payload for the scan
Text mode encodes the text as entered. URL mode accepts absolute HTTP or HTTPS addresses, but generation does not visit the destination. Wi-Fi mode includes the network name, security type, password, and hidden-network flag. Contact mode creates a vCard 3.0 and enables a separate `.vcf` download.
The URL example encodes the address itself; it is not a page screenshot or a check that the website works. The size setting controls the exported image dimensions, with 512 × 512 as the default. More pixels do not reduce the payload or guarantee that a printed code will be readable.
Mode: URL
Input: https://example.com/docs
Payload: https://example.com/docs
Default download: qrcode.png (512 × 512 px, error correction M)Keep a quiet zone and test the scan
The generator leaves a four-module margin around the code. Scanners use this quiet zone to find the symbol boundary, so do not crop it away when laying out the image or adding a logo. A dark foreground on a light background is generally easier for cameras to read.
Correction levels L, M, Q, and H are labeled as approximately 7%, 15%, 25%, and 30%; these figures are not a promise that the same share of the image can be covered. Higher correction usually adds modules, while payload length also affects density. Test with the target phone, print size, and lighting before sharing.
Capacity and common generation errors
The form accepts up to 4,000 UTF-8 bytes. That is an input ceiling, not a promise that every payload of that size fits in one QR symbol. Actual capacity depends on the encoded characters, mode, and correction level; a long link, contact card, or multibyte text may exceed the QR library’s capacity sooner.
A URL needs an `http://` or `https://` scheme. Empty text, a missing Wi-Fi name, or invalid contact fields can fail validation. Editing any content or setting invalidates the prior preview and downloads; generate again so you do not distribute a code for older input.
Privacy and what the code cannot prove
The payload is encoded in the current browser and is not uploaded by generation. Anyone who obtains the image may read its text, Wi-Fi password, phone number, or email address. Do not post private network credentials publicly or treat a QR code as encryption.
The tool creates an image and structured contact text, but it cannot establish that a URL is safe, a Wi-Fi password is correct, a phone is compatible, or every scanner will interpret contact fields alike. Review the input before downloading; use the image tool if you need to resize or convert the exported image.
